Northwest Chapter

Our chapter covers the geographic region of Northwest Arkansas . Our corner of the state features some excellent paddling opportunities for whitewater, gentle moving streams, Siloam Springs Kayak Park, WOKA and lake recreation.

All year around, our members are on the water doing different things such as - day tripping in canoes and kayaks, canoe camping, fishing, playing boatball, teaching canoe, kayak and river safety and rescue, river cleanup, or just enjoying being on the water with friends.

In the spring and fall seasons, the Ozark Mountains provide some of the most reliable and exciting whitewater in the Midwest, with something for every paddler.

And that's what our club is all about - getting together with great people of all skill levels and interests who love to paddle the streams and lakes of the Ozarks! There are currently about 300+ members in our area affiliated with the Northwest Chapter, and our monthly meetings and regularly scheduled events, such as pool practice sessions and boatball, provide an opportunity to get to know and hang out with local paddlers.

WOKA Channel Challenge Race

Time Name Boat Class

3’17.81” Braxon Sapp Kayak

3’59” Dusty Ritchie Kayak

4’24.53” Robert Duggins Kayak

4’29.34” Bo Brown Kayak

5’47" Alan Kearney Kayak

5’32.18” Robert & Molly Duggins Two-person Open Canoe

Rules(draft): Timing starts when the contestant enters the WOKA channel above rapid #1 and ends after rapid #8 at the take-out ramp. WOKA has two small islands after most rapids. These two islands create three channels. Contestant must navigate through all three channels before running the next rapid. After rapid #1 the side channels are too shallow to navigate, here the contestant only has to touch the two islands. In the Open Canoe category the timing is stop to allow for boat draining. Possible other boat classes: Long Kayaks (+9 feet), Single Open Canoe, Covered Canoe, Inflatable Kayak, SUP, Raft, etc.

Monthly Chapter Meetings

The Northwest Chapter usually meets the last Monday of every month (except December) meetings normally 7:00pm. Check Facebook for the latest information.

The purpose of these meetings is to get together, socialize, tell stories, give trip reports, find someone to paddle with, and just generally have fun. It's also a chance for everyone to stay up to date on all club goings on. If the meeting day falls on a holiday or a major ACC event (such as Rendezvous or Whitewater School), we may reschedule, so check our Facebook or ask one of the contacts below if you want to be sure we're meeting.

All are welcome!!!

If you have ideas for a program, please contact us and we'll put it on the agenda.

Videos, slideshows, guest speakers, mini-clinics, trip reports, trip plans, etc. - we'd love to have your ideas and we'd be happy to let you run the show if you want to.

We do ask you to sign an Annual Waiver for club events.
