25th Annual Arkansas Canoe Club Rendezvous
September 14th-16th, 2018
Lake Catherine State Park near Malvern, AR
Sanctioned by the American Canoe Association
Believe it or not, this is the 25th year for Rendezvous...25 years!! That's a quarter of a century. Let's celebrate by making this the best Rendezvous yet....What is the main ingredient for that? YOUR ATTENDANCE.
As always, we have a lot of fun events planned, great meals to prepare and fantastic prizes to give away. Read on for a quick rundown of each.
Rendezvous Headquarters (HQ) will be in the pavilion on Picnic Hill. This is where most of the events will take place and the meeting place for others. An up-to-the-minute schedule of events will be posted here...so basically if you need information about where or when something will happen...go here, somebody can help you. If you need somebody to hang out and visit with, go here. All meals will be served here. Registration will occur here. (Remember EVERYONE has to register!)
Upon Arrival: go ahead and claim your campsite, park, secure, even set up your gear BUT then head straight (WALK, or run if you prefer, but no driving) to Rendezvous HQ to get registered.

Stuff to Do
Lake Catherine Morning Tour: Folks, it's a beautiful little lake and we'll be sleeping and playing right by and on it, so why not go check it out? Lisa Logan with Lake Ouachita Kayak Tours has graciously offered to help us do that very thing. She'll be there with touring kayaks and the requisite gear and will lead the tour. 8:30. departure Saturday morning. Sign up at Rendezvous HQ on Friday night if you will be needing to use one of their boats, as these are first come, first serve basis. Personal boats are of course also welcome. Meet at RV site 28.
Kayak Fishing Tournament: Brand new for this year's Vous, the fine folks at Ouachita Outdoor Outfitters are sponsoring a kayak fishing tournament on Lake Catherine. Details will be forthcoming.
SUP Demo on the Lake: Rob Moody of the NW chapter will be leading a SUP demonstration on the lake. He will provide the boards and gear necessary. There will also be demo boards courtesy of Ozark Mountain Trading Company.
World Kayak Hometown Throwdown: We're pleased to say the Hometown Throwdown team will be back at Rendezvous this year. I hear they have some spectacularly silly plans this year, so plan to be at the Rockport ledge Saturday afternoon to spectate and if you're so inclined even participate! Exact time TBD
Baggo Tournament: Back by popular demand with a tweak or two. Entry fee is $20 per team with proceeds going to offset the cost of the weekend. Register at Rendezvous HQ Friday night or Saturday morning. PRIZES will be awarded for top placing teams.
Ouachita River Pirate Float: Stay tuned for details.
Where to Sleep
The park is our oyster......sorta. There are two options for camping at Rendezvous. If you like lots of camaraderie and don't want to pay for camping the group camp area affectionately known as Camp Hilll is for you. There will be plenty of folks shacked up there in tents, hammocks and other abodes. It'll be fun! However, if you prefer a little more privacy and/or amenities you may find an RV site more to your liking. There are ten of those bad boys reserved in the club's name and all have water and electricity, but despite the description you don't necessarily need an RV to claim one. What you DO need is $22 plus tax per night. If that sounds more up your alley call the park at 501-844-4176 and press option 2. Tell the nice person on the other end you're reserving for Rendezvous and they'll take it from there. Piece o' cake, but don't dawdle! When they're gone they're gone!
Other Stuff to Know
We want you to stay at Rendezvous all weekend, but if that's not in the cards there's plenty of fun to be had on Saturday. Adult beverages are welcome. Rude behavior is not. Well behaved four legged family members are welcome too. Please observe all park regulations which essentially amount to not being a jerk.
*EVERYONE who comes to Rendezvous, including volunteers, MUST register. This is for your benefit and ours. If this is a problem for you please reach out to me.*
