Outline of Committee Plans:

Task 1: Recommend curriculum for ACC Annual River School

1. Develop course content for kayak and canoe classes. Consider:
   1. skill levels,
   2. sequenced progression,
   3. prerequisites,
   4. locations.
2. Develop sample lesson plans, teaching aides, and resources for River School.
3. Recommend safety and rescue guidelines for River School.
4. Recommend methods to better evaluate River School..

Task 2: Develop River School Admission Materials and Procedures

1. Develop an river school application form..
2. Develop River School Participant information & preparation materials.
3. Develop self evaluation form and methods to get students into proper level class.
4. Coordinate all admission material with curriculum outlines.

Task 3: Provide Instructor Development and Continuing Education

1. Advocate instructor certification in all available paddle sport disciplines
2. Advocate revenue raising events to benefit instructor development.
3. Conduct an annual Instructor Retreat
4. Consider methods to recognize and retain our instructors

Task 4: Provide Program Development

1. Develop Long Term Plans for quality safety and education programs.
2. Encourage and support additional education events and courses at
   1. River School,
   2. Rendezvous and
   3. Chapters
3. Promote and encourage Swiftwater Rescue Courses for entire ACC.

Task 5: Present For Board of Director Approval at February 2000 meeting.
