Dustbowl Chapter (Tulsa, OK)
Al Schiltz - President
Mary Moser - Treasurer
A message from our President:
We are a diverse group and we like to plan some events that cater to the wide range of paddlers we have in the club.
Of course you have the white water enthusiasts (myself included in that category) that are ready to drop and change all our plans at the very mention of rain.
But we also have recreational paddlers (I include myself in that category as well) who just like to get out and enjoy a nice flowing river or lake and soak in all the nature and beauty around them.
Chapter Meeting:
Our meetings are generally held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. They are held at the Martin Regional Library at 2601 South Garnet Road,Tulsa, OK. The meeting venue does vary according to local paddling activities. Please check this website "current events" before each meeting.
Current Events:
Wednesday night paddles started March 13 lead by Andy Wilmes.. check website each week for details.
Regular March meeting will deferred to next month due to Spring Break and lack of participation. For those in town who want to enjoy a Wednesday night paddle here are the specifics from Andy Wilmes.
"I will be going to Rogers Point this coming Wednesday. Rogers Point is the public boat ramp just north of Catoosa on Highway 66. It accesses the Navigation Channel. Head towards Claremore north out of Catoosa and turn right directly after crossing the old bridge over the old Bird Creek channel. Wednesday is the first day of spring which means a good time to get boats wet. I will head up the channel (North) a mile and then head left into the Bird Creek mouth and probably paddle around the loop."
Next meeting is April 18th at the Martin Regional library, 26th & Garnett at 6:30pm. Let me know what items you may want to add to the agenda.
Reminder, Canoe School (School of White Water Paddling) is only 6 weeks away. I strongly recommend new boaters to sign up and take this class to advance your skills and meet new paddlers. Besides it being informative it's a great social outdoors event and great food! If you need more information check ACC website or contact me for details.
